The Millers Association of Zambia (MAZ) says it is possible for the nation to record a bumper harvest despite many obstacles the farmers have faced during this farming season.

MAZ National Coordinator Andrew Chintala says the Association was concerned about late delivery of farming inputs, the outbreak of army worms but government responded very quickly and positively.

Mr. Chintala notes that there are some areas where farmers have not completely eradicated army worms and has since called on government and other sectors in the agriculture sector to be able to assist the farmers with chemicals.

Mr. Chintala is optimistic that according to the survey the Association has done, the country may record bumper harvest which will translate into food security.

The MAZ National Coordinator has also expressed concern over the continued down pour saying too much of the rains is not good especially in some areas were the crops is almost ready.

He has told QTV news that the Millers are looking forward to government opening the borders so that they will be able to export the finished products across the region.
