EAZ predicts better performance of Zambia’s economy in 2017

The Economics Association of Zambia says country’s economy is expected to perform better this year compared to 2016 following the reduction in the inflation rate from double to a single digit and the rebound in copper prices on the international market.

EAZ Programs officer Kampamba Shula says the expected improvement in performance of the economy is also as a result of the stable exchange rate among other factors.

And Mr. Kampamba has applauded the Ministry of Finance for committing to clear outstanding arrears it owes to contractors.

He has told QTV News that the move will also enhance the performance of the national economy.

Mr. Kampamba notes that to some extent, the national economy is being driven by the construction sector as evidenced by government’s heavy expenditure on road construction across the country.
