Luo seeks to transform Bursaries Committee

Ministry of Higher Education has announced plans to transform the bursaries committee into a human resource skills development division.

Higher Education Minister Nkandu Luo says she wants to have this committee transformed because she personally does not understand what it means.

Professor Luo says with the transformation of this committee her Ministry intends to put in place a robust information system.

She says this is besides putting in place a data base for all students in Zambia with the view of knowing who they are and where they are.

Professor Luo states that the idea is to enable her Ministry know the depleted skills in the Country on whose information she says will be relied on in the awarding of government scholarships to students.

She was speaking last night when she graced a dinner organized by the British High Commission to welcome 17 Zambian chevening alumni who went to study at UK’s prestigious universities.

Speaking earlier British High Commissioner to Zambia Fergus Cochrane -Dyet disclosed that interviews are being organized for more than 40 Zambians who have applied for the chevening scholarships.

Mr. Cochrane -Dyet notes that  the scholarships are in various fields of study and are for the 2017/2018 academic year.
