Zambia to receive €600M worth of European investment

Zambia is this year expecting commitment of investment from Europe in excess of 600 million Euros.

Finance Minister Felix Mutati has disclosed that this is as a consequence of a recent tour of Europe a delegation he lead undertook.

Mr. Mutati says while on this tour his delegation had several engagements with various cooperating partners who pledged commitment to investments.

He notes that such investments are an important pillar government wants to push on in assisting to grow the Zambian economy and reduce poverty.

Mr. Mutati has also disclosed that in line with this his Ministry will on Monday next week have a meeting with the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Akinwumi Adesina.

He was speaking this morning at the official opening of a Zambian government – donor high level policy dialogue meeting  in Lusaka.

Speaking at the same meeting Swedish Ambassador to Zambia Henrick Cederin observed that with the enthusiasm and commitment being shown so far, cooperating partners think that the Zambia Plus economic recovery program can take the Country forward.

Mr. Cederin says cooperating partners group which he is leading at the meeting is very positive that the Zambian government has emphasized the national ownership of this program.

He states that this is particularly at the same time as it reach out in a plus format.
