The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has observed the need to have lanes dedicated for emergency purposes.

LCC Public Relations Manager Mulunda Habeenzu says in other countries, roads have lanes dedicated for emergency purposes to enable Ambulances and fire brigade to pass through smoothly without being caught up in traffic.

Mr. Habeenzu explains that in Lusaka, there is too much traffic and when the fire brigade receive a call it is difficult for them to reach the scene on time because of traffic.

He says some motorists will give way for them to pass while others will not.

He has observed that, if the nation can have lanes dedicated for emergency purposes it will be easier for the fire department to put off the fire on time.
