The Confederation of Trade Union in Zambia (COTUZ) has called on government not to temper with Zambia’s work force in its economic recovery plan.

COTUZ President Joe Kamutumwa says Zambians are aware that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be coming to Zambia for negotiations and that the work force should not be touched.

Mr. Kamutumwa says in as much as the economic recovery plan is needed in Zambia, the union will not accept retrenchments as one of the conditions by IMF.

He says Zambians are aware of the history of the IMF and the impact it leaves on the nation and thus the need for government to be cautious when handling this matter.
