Former UPND Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo says he will commerce criminal proceedings against High Court Judge Mwiinde Siavwapa for alleged gross misconduct.

Mr. Lifwekelo last month reported Judge Siavwapa to the Judicial Complaints Commission for gross misconduct.

The former UPND Deputy Spokesperson reported Judge Siavwapa for rendering legal advice to former Post Newspaper proprietor Fred M’membe from the bench in a matter that is currently before another Judge in the same court.

Mr. Lifwekelo claimed that he had discovered Judge Siavwapa gave legal advice to M’membe who is seeking to be part of the liquidation process.

Later, the Judicial Complaints Commission replied to the letter that Mr. Lifwekelo had written them and feels they are toothless to handle this matter.

He has told Journalists in Lusaka this afternoon that he has called on private prosecutors to deal with this matter.

Mr. Lifwekelo claims that he has enough evidence of even letters that Judge Siavwapa is writing in his office to Mr. M’membe.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lifwekelo has taken a swipe at the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) for being inept in dealing with matters that need their support and interpretation.

He says this is the more reason why he feels another legal body be formed to counter check the happenings in the country.
