Government says there is room to amend the newly introduced Statutory Instrument No. 105 of 2016 that has seen the introduction of veterinary services fees for farmers seeking Government assistance.

Recently, the Minister of Fisheries & Livestock Michael Katambo signed the Statutory Instrument number 105 of 2016, the Animal Health Order 2016 to hike fees for basic livestock services such as permits, licenses and disease control.

This was however was not received well by various stakeholders who thought that this was defective and will be a source of corruption.

But Mr. Katambo says following the reaction by various stakeholders, his ministry called for a meeting with these players and discussed a range of issues concerning this SI.

Mr. Katambo says because the PF is a listening government, President Lungu directed him that he holds consultative meetings with various stakeholders so as to come up with agreed fees for the veterinary services.
