Fire Brigade investigating Bible House’s cause of fire

The Lusaka Fire Brigade has instituted investigations into the cause of the fire that destroyed property worth thousands of Kwacha yesterday belonging to the Bible Society of Zambia.

Bible Society of Zambia president Edwin Zulu has disclosed at a media briefing that it has however, been established that the fire started from one of the shops rented out by the society.

Professor Zulu notes that the damage to the property is extensive and that it will take about one or two weeks to determine the extent of the damage to the building.

He says the society’s Bibles were not on the other hand burnt, except for the section of the warehouse roof where the Bibles were stocked which was blown off.

Professor Zulu has told journalists that documents and office equipment remain intact but that the building itself has incurred cracks and cannot therefore remain in use.

He says to this effect the Bible Society of Zambia has for the time being relocated to Justo Mwale University premises in Chamba valley area.
