Impose right hand driven vehicle ban, Govt urged

The Zambian government has been advised to consider pushing for a ban on left hand driven vehicles in the Southern Africa region.

William Harrington

Former Transport Minister William Harrington is urging government to do so in view of the number of traffic accidents the Country is recording as a result of having such vehicles.

Mr. Harrington says he has personally observed that it is difficult to safely drive right hand vehicles in a Country that has the keep left hand public roads.

He has told QTV News this is why he is suggesting to government, as it ponders on how to improve road safety in Zambia, that it also consider imposing a ban left hand driven vehicles.

Mr. Harrington states that this is especially that like many other African countries, Zambia has become a dumping ground for used  right driven vehicles.
