Lungu is first choice striker – Bwalya

The ruling PF has challenged its members interested to aspire for the party’s 2021 presidential candidacy to brace themselves for a tough battle.

PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya says bidding for the 2021 presidential candidacy in his party will be a question of competing for a place.

Mr. Bwalya says anyone interested in this candidacy should however keep in mind that such bid will be an attempt to displace the first choice striker of the party who he says is President Edgar Lungu.

In an interview with QTV News, Mr. Bwalya states that this is why the challenge to those wanting to substitute President Lungu is that they brace themselves for a tough battle.

Mr. Bwalya says as far as the general membership of the party is concerned President Lungu has been scoring the more reason they have endorsed him as the first choice candidate for the 2021 elections.

He says the party leadership will in this case refuse to be engaged by any other party member who wants to replace the ruling PF’s first choice candidate as it is too early to do so.

And Mr. Bwalya has distanced President Lungu from the reported intimidation of Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili’s supporters who failed to turn up at his hearing last week.

Mr. Bwalya has also denied involvement of the ruling PF or government in the alleged intimidation of Dr. Kambwili’s supporters.

He has wondered in whose interest it would be to prevent Dr. Kambwili’s supporters from turning up at the hearing when it cannot be concluded in their absence.
