Political Scientist Dr. Alex Ng’oma has called on the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) not to remain quiet over the growing debate of President Edgar Lungu’s legibility to stand in 2021.

Dr. Ng’oma says this is the time that the people want the association to interpret the constitution so that they know what the way forward is.

He says according to his own understanding or interpretation of the law, President Lungu qualifies to stand in 2021 as this is considered to be his first term because he was only finishing the unexpired term of late President Michael Sata.

Dr. Ng’oma has also appealed to Zambians not to be emotional over this issue but rely on what the constitution says.

He says if President Lungu qualifies to stand in 2021 in accordance with the provisions of the law, people should allow him to exercise his democratic right to re-contest in 2021.

Dr. Ng’oma has told QTV News via telephone that all those aggrieved by this revelation by the Head of State that he qualifies to stand in 2021 should seek the interpretation of the Constitutional Court.

He adds that there is no need for agitation.
