JCTR welcomes toll gates discount system

The Jesuit Center for Theological Reflection (JCTR) has welcomed government’s decision to introduce a discount payment system on toll gates in the Country.

JCTR Executive Director

Leonard Chiti

Executive Director Leonard Chiti says his organization thinks that such an introduction is good development especially for residents that stay in areas such as Kafue District.

Father Chiti says the JCTR has observed that Kafue is actually a town in which many residents either have jobs or do businesses in Lusaka City.

In an interview with QTV News Father Chiti says this means that had the discount payment system not come to cushion the impact of toll gates, such residents would have been hit hard.

Father Chiti notes that the JCTR’s concern is the lose in potential revenue that will be incurred as a result of such an introduction of a discount payments system on toll gates.

He says his organization is encouraging government to find an alternative to the lost revenue in view of the fact that the Country does need to realize as much domestic revenue as possible.
