The Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) says there is need to assess presidential foreign trips.

ICOZ Board Chairperson Bishop David Masupa says it is important that government assesses all Presidential trips to determine which ones are beneficial to the country in order to avoid unnecessary debate.

He has encouraged President Edgar Lungu to undertake trips which require him to personally attend and delegate the vice president or the foreign affairs minister those which do not necessarily require him to attend personally as a way of cutting costs.

Bishop Masupa says in as much as the church appreciates the cutting down of the President’s salary, it is important that he also reduces on unnecessary trips.
