Lungu underscores the importance of peace

President Edgar Lungu says Zambia’s longstanding peace record is dependable on the African continent.

Speaking this morning before departure for Luanda, Angola to attend an extra ordinary United Nations Great Lakes Summit on the Democratic Republic of Congo and the great lakes region, President Lungu says Zambia will be there to share best practices in terme-lungu-departss of maintaining peace.

He says Zambia will share her experience with other countries and help them in maintaining peace.

President Lungu has underscored the importance of peace in the region and the need to coexist.

He also hinted that apart from attending the summit, he might hold bilateral talks with other leaders on other issues affecting the people on the continent.

The first ever stand alone summit is aimed at consolidating the regional oversight mechanism for peace, security and cooperation in the region.

President Lungu, who left KK International Airport at 07:10hrs aboard the presidential challenger jet, was seen off by Vice President Inonge Wina, Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Lawrence Sichalwe, Defence Chiefs, PF Secretary General Davies Mwila and other senior government and PF officials.
