the price of fuel and electricity will hurt the poor more.

The removal of subsidies on fuel and electricity are some of the conditions of the IMF bailout package.

Dr. Chishimba says it is the poor who will lose jobs and pay high bus fares as well as the ordinary marketeers and young traders who will pay more for transporting their goods to the target markets.

He notes that at the end of the day, it is the ultimate consumer who will pay the high prices, adding that and with the Kwacha whose purchasing power has weakened, people will be worse off.

Dr. Chishimba says when Zambians voted, they voted so that their lives can improve and not that the situation should be worse than it is already.

He states that it is important that the PF government strives to improve the people’s livelihoods.
