Government has been advised against compromising the tax incidence as the country prepares to navigate through the anticipated economic hardships arising from the IMF austerity measures.

Economist Isaac Ngoma is urging government to ensure tax enforcement by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) is enhanced.

In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Ngoma says those that are obliged and are required to pay tax must pay their fare share if the economy is to be sustained and grow in the medium and long term.

Mr. Ngoma states that this means that the private sector must take center stage.

He is urging government to use the public sector to facilitate an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive.

Mr. Ngoma who is also former Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) president says this is what any economy going through a difficult time needs.
