The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) will be setting up an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident were 22 people died involving a Power Tools Bus which also culminated into another accident where three officers died in Serenje district recently.

Road Transport and Safety Agency Head Public Relations Fredrick Mubanga says a team of RTSA, Zambia Police officers and an independent body will be constituted to ascertain the circumstances under which the accident occurred.

Mubanga Says according to the outcome of the inquiry, the team will also recommend on what measures should be put in place to govern the operations of Public Service Vehicles (PSV).

He says the Agency is aware that such recommendations may be drastic, however, the team will be looking at a bigger picture that of preventing such occurrences in future, as a way of enhancing and promoting road safety.

Mr. Mubanga disclosed that the inquiry will commence soon.

Recently 22 people aboard a Power Tools Bus coming from Nakonde headed for Kitwe died in Serenje when the driver, Baron Chibwe, 39 failed to negotiate a curve due to excessive speeding.
