Various cultural groups from all the ten provinces converged in Lusaka today to celebrate Zambia’s cultural heritage through music and dance.

Government last year launched the first-ever cultural and tourist product called ‘Pamodzi Carnival’ aimed at boosting cultural tourism.

The event was later made an annual event in a bid to unite Zambians.

Today’s Pamodzi Carnival started from Woodlands, passed through Chilenje and Garden townships before terminating at the Lusaka Show Grounds.

And gracing the event, Deputy Secretary top Cabinet Ambassador Peter Kasanda says government remains committed to ensuring that music and arts in the country are promoted.

Ambassador Kasanda has observed the need for the nation to continue embracing Zambia’s cultural activities in a bid to continue uniting and remain as one.

Speaking at the same event, Ministry of Tourism and Arts Acting Permanent Secretary Zachariah Luhanga says the carnival is a chance for the community to have fun, admire the skills of the dances and their costumes.

He says it is a wonderful way to release tensions and make new friends.
