The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has advised government to ensure vulnerable Zambians are not hugely affected by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) economic bailout.

CSPR Executive Director Patrick Nshindano tells QTV News that there is need for government to protect the interests of the poor people in negotiating and implementing the IMF bailout package.

He says this considering the fact that there will be a lot of realignment more especially when it comes to subsidies which have a huge impact on the cost of living.

Mr Nshindano states that it is for this reason that the government should be cautions enough when implementing the IMF bailout plan so as not to hugely affect the majority poor Zambians.

Mr Nshindano proposes that government finds a way of cushioning all those who will be affected with the measures of the IMF package in order to reduce the impact the package may have on the cost of living for the poor people.
