He has reminded people in the Country that unity is what in fact defines them as a nation.

President states that unity has to be therefore seriously nurtured if the Zambian people are to successfully forge ahead.

He was speaking in a speech he read today during the Kulamba traditional ceremony of the Chewa speaking people of Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia in Katete.

And President Lungu has stressed the importance that the Kulamba traditional ceremony plays in uniting and reminding the three countries that take part in it of their common heritage.

He notes that such traditional ceremonies do not only remind people of their origins, norms and values, but also contribute to the promotion of national unity, peace and harmony.

The Head of State says traditional ceremonies should in this case be considered as crucial cultural activities to the core of nations’ existence.

He thinks that Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia that observe the Kulamba traditional ceremony should also make significant strides in promoting peace and unity through arts and culture sectors.
