Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has attributed the failure of the referendum to the politicization of the process by some political parties.

TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu has since appealed to the incoming government to consider holding another referendum.
Mr. Lungu is also urging politicians to avoid politicizing national undertakings such as the Referendum.
He notes that the enhanced Bill of Rights could have helped in making the State accountable to the citizens.
Mr Lungu has also encouraged Zambians to take time to go through the bill of rights so that they understand what they would be voting for given a second chance to vote in a referendum.
