Don’t fall in the trap of tribalism – HH

UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has cautioned Zambians not to fall in the trap of tribalism which he says the Patriotic Front is allegedly using to orchestrate divisions between Tongas and Bembas.

Mr Hichilema says Zambians should not allow themselves to be divided by a single political party’s desperation to stay in power.

He says differences in tribe should not be a source of division in a country like Zambia.

Mr Hichilema has told a media briefing in Lusaka that he suspects that the Zambian people are being divided deliberately.

And Mr. Hichilema has appealed to UPND supporters to remain calm as the Constitutional Court hears the petition he has filed challenging the outcome of the August 11th presidential election.

Speaking at the same function, MMD faction leader Nevers Mumba has wondered why the ruling PF appears to be in great panic if it is not for a good reason of what it did to win the elections.

Dr. Mumba says if PF truly believes it won the just ended elections, it should be the most relaxed political party and remove all its cadres from the streets.

And Alliance for Democracy and Development leader Charles Milupi has commended Mr. Hichilema for restraining his party members from reacting from the provocation from the ruling PF.

Others that spoke at the media briefing include former vice president Guy Scott and UPND vice president Geoffrey Mwamba.
