RB called on to diffuse tension in Zambia

Former President Rupiah Banda has been called upon to help diffuse the tension in the country following the outcome of the August 11th general election.

UPND Lubwa Ward information and publicity Chairperson Chisankama Mudenda says Mr. Banda should use his status as a statesman to appeal for peace and unity as the country awaits the outcome of the presidential petition in the Constitutional Court.

He says the former president is better placed to unify the country in the current circumstances.

Mr. Mudenda says this is given the magnanimity he showed to peacefully handover power when he lost the 2011 general elections to late president Michael Sata.
