Zanaco on Saturday restored their eight point lead at the summit of the Faz Super League log, after a 1-0 Lusaka derby home win over Green Buffaloes at Sunset Stadium.

The win was Zanaco’s second on the trot after last weekend’s 6-1 home win over Lusaka Dynamos that saw them bounce back from a 2-1 away loss against third-placed Power Dynamos a fortnight ago.

Midfielder Richard Kasonde scored the lone goal in the 65th minute to net his third goal in two games after his brace in that victory over Dynamos.

Zanaco rise to 55 points ahead of second-placed Nkana on 47 points while Buffaloes stay fourth on 39 points after 23 games played.

At the other end of the table, there was heartbreak for bottom-placed Mufulira Blackpool who were denied the prospect of their first league win of the season.

Blackpool were held by fellow promoted side Lumwana Radiants who bounced back to finish 1-1 at John Kachofa Stadium in Mufulira.

Alison Mulelembe put Blackpool ahead in the 42nd minute but Rogers Mukenge stole a point for Lumwana with an 88th minute equaliser.

Lumwana stay just outside the bottom four relegation zone in 14th place on 23 points while Blackpool have eight points.

At Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium, Kabwe Warriors finished 1-1 at home against Nakamabala Leopards to stay sixth with goals from Siloni Jere and Venecious Mapande respectively.

And at Independence Stadium in Lusaka, Lusaka Tigers ended their nine-match losing run with a 2-0 home win over Mufulira Wanderers courtesy of a Malela Sapu brace while in Choma, Green Eagles and Napsa Stars finished 1-1.
