President Elect Edgar Lungu has urged the church to continue praying for peace and unity in the aftermath of the election.

Speaking during a mass at St. Ignatius Parish in Lusaka this morning, President Lungu says he was heartbroken this morning to learn that government offices in Lukulu District were burnt last night.

He says it was his prayer that this was not the beginning of the Armageddon that was being talked about by some of the competitors in the elections.

President Lungu says people should thus continue praying for peace and unity in the country.

And St. Ignatius Parish Priest Father Charles Chilinda in his sermon urged Zambians to speak the language of love, peace and  oneness citing that the discussions that have followed elections makes one question whether Zambians are Christians or not.

Fr. Chilinda says God is asking people to check their altitudes noting that regardless of which province one is coming from, Zambians are a family of God.
