The Independent Churches of Zambia says there is need for political party leaders to embrace unity in an effort to end political violence in the country.

Independent churches of Zambia board chairman, Bishop David Masupa notes that political party leaders are the right people to end the violence because they have the power to call on their followers not to engage in violence.

Bishop Masupa says there is need for political party leaders to emulate their supporters in southern province who have decided to unite after the national day of prayer.

He has however commended President Edgar Lungu for calling on PF cadres not to involve themselves in political violence.

Bishop Masupa has also called on opposition political party leaders especially UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to emulate President Lungu by calling his party cadres to desist from engaging in political violence.
