UPND offended by PF Chopper fly-over on Chawama rally

The opposition UPND has described as provocative yesterday’s fly over of a PF campaign helicopter at its Chawama rally in Lusaka.

UPND Secretary General Steven Katuka says his party finds it to be lawlessness that the helicopter had to drag a vote Edgar Lungu banner at a time his party officials were addressing party supporters.

Mr. Katuka has told Qfm News in a statement that his party also finds it hard to believe that approval was granted for such a venture by the ruling PF.

He notes that this is particularly given the strict requirements and procedures his party  has been subjected to conduct campaigns in the areas.

Mr. Katuka states that the UPND thinks that the Department of Civil Aviation cleared the helicopter  in clear breach of the Electoral Process Act.

He says the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) must  thus act immediately to show that such blatant disregard of legal requirements concerning elections are treated with the seriousness they warrant.
