Zesco prepare for Asec game in Lusaka

Zesco United will switch camp from their Ndola base to Lusaka this weekend for three days, before facing Asec Mimosa in a Group A away clash next Wednesday on match-day-three of the 2016 Caf Champions League.

Zambia’s Caf Champions League representatives will train on an artificial pitch this weekend in Lusaka, to adopt to the Stade Robert Champroux surface in Abidjan.

Zesco will hold its final training session at their Levy Mwanawasa Stadium base in Ndola on Thursday before heading to the Capital on Friday.

“The team will train at either Independence Stadium or the Olympic Youth Development Centre on Friday afternoon on an artificial turf and on Saturday both in the morning and afternoon,” Zesco media officer Katebe Chengo said.

Zesco will later depart Lusaka for Cote d’Ivoire early on Sunday morning on a South African Airways flight to Abidjan via Johannesburg.

Zesco are second in Group A on six points, three more than third placed Asec whom they beat 3-1 in their first leg meeting on July 16 at Levy Stadium.

The Zambian side is one point behind leaders Wydad Casablanca of Morocco who host bottom of the log Al Ahly, who have one point from three matches, on the same date in Rabat following a scoreless draw in Cairo on July 16.
