Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has warned that police will not hesitate to arrest any member of the public found armed in public in a manner that causes terror even if such a person is licensed fire arm holder.

In a statement released to Qfm by police deputy Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, Mr. Kanganja says the police service has noticed a proliferation of items that are dangerous being used to cause insecurity in the country.

Mr. Kanganja says the items include air gun pistols which he says have become common, machetes, taser guns, catapults among others.

He has warned the general public that section 84 of the penal code act clearly states that any person who goes armed in the public without lawful occasion in such a manner as to cause terror to any person commits an offence and his arms may be forfeited.

Mr. Kanganja has since directed all police officers to ensure that all those who are found armed in public causing terror regardless of their political affiliation are arrested and prosecuted without further delay.
