Indeni refinery shut

Government has ruled out any possibility of a fuel stock out between now and the end of the year.

And Indeni Petroleum Refinery has been shut down following the late arrival of a crude feedstock cargo that was scheduled to arrive on 15th June.

Energy and Water Development Permanent Secretary Emelda Chola in a statement says the refinery will be temporarily shut down from 17th to about 28th June,2016.INDENI OIL

Brigadier General Chola says the three day delay of the cargo will entail it losing its offloading slot at the Single Point Mooring in Dar es Salaam such that the next slot will only be on 25th June,2016.

General Chola states that due to this delay, Indeni will exhaust crude feedstock for refining and hence will shut down for about 12 days.

She however, states that despite the temporal shutdown, the country will still have adequate fuel stocks.

General Chola says as of 14th June,2016, fuel stock levels in Government Storage Depots stood at 36.7 million litres for petrol translating into 31 days,83.3 million litres for diesel translating into 38 days,3.5 million litres for kerosene and 8.0 million litres for Jet A1 translating into 71 days and 54 days respectively.
