President Edgar Lungu has urged Zambians to guard against any conduct that threatens the peace and unity  of the country.

Speaking during an Africa freedom Day state reception at State House today, President Edgar Lungu reminded the people of Zambia that the peace they  enjoy today was paid for in blood.

President Lungu says the Country’s founding fathers had to sweat too for Zambia to be liberated from colonial rule.

He says campaigns for the August 11th general elections should thus be peaceful and people should equally vote peacefully on the polling day.

And President Lungu has maintained that his party the ruling PF will vote yes in the referendum on the Bill of Rights that is to be held alongside the August general elections.

He says this is what Zambians want that they have an expanded Bill of Rights.

Meanwhile President Lungu has disclosed that government will resume the administering of honors and awards to deserving citizens under a new system once the new national policy has been put in place.

Earlier, Vice President Inonge Wina thanked President Lungu for being an advocate of gender equality and equity.
