The Southern African Center for Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has challenged government to inform the nation if they will amend the Public Order Act during the remaining nine days before parliament is dissolved.

And the organization has also expressed concern that some key pieces of legislation that Zambians hoped would pass in parliament have not seen the light of the day.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has explained to QTV News via telephone that some legislation includes Public Order Act, Access to Information Bill and other important bills.

He says there are close to 30 pieces of legislation that needed to be amended to be in tandem with the amended constitution but that he doubts if this will be done looking at the time that is remaining before parliament is dissolved.

Mr. Cheembe says all these pieces of legislation would have been amended a long time ago only if there was political will coming from those in authorities.
