Thirteen political parties have formed an alliance dubbed National Opposition Alliance (NOA) with the sole purpose of supporting the ruling Patriotic Front in the forthcoming general election.
The thirteen parties include among others the Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM), Christian Democratic Party ( CDP) and the All People’s Congress (APC).
Interim NOA president who is also ZDDM president Edwin Sakala has told a media briefing that the aim of the alliance is to mobilize and campaign for the re-election of President Edgar Lungu.
Mr. Sakala says to effect, the alliance met President Lungu last Friday were they endorsed him as its presidential candidate for the August 11th elections.
He says besides endorsing President Lungu’s candidature, the alliance seeks a long term working relationship with the ruling Patriotic Front.
