ZAM President Maybin Nsupila has tells QTV News that the association received a lot of complaints from its members over the intention by ZESCO to increase tariffs.

Mr. Nsupila says the increase in the tariffs could have forced some manufacturing companies to close as it would have been practically impossible for them to operate, especially that they are already suffering effects of power cuts.

He says in as much as ZAM supports the shift to cost reflective tariffs, there is need to do so gradually.

Mr. Nsupila agrees that for investment to boom in the energy sector, there is need to have competitive tariffs, but that this should not affect operations of companies.
