The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has successfully completed the inspection of driving schools across the country in an effort to ensure they adhere to required standards.

RTSA Acting Public Relations Manager Fredrick Mubanga says the agency will soon publish the names of driving schools that did not meet the required standards and whose licenses will be revoked.

He says the agency is keen to bring sanity on the Zambian roads.

Mr. Mubanga has since cautioned potential motorists to be aware of some driving schools that lack competency in offering driving skills.

Meanwhile, the Driving Schools Association of Zambia (DSAZ) says the inspections conducted by the Road Transport and Safety Agency will help improve the standards of driving schools and will also help in reducing the current high numbers of road traffic accidents.

Association President Hope Kasese-Kumalo has however, recommends that the agency curbs the use of pirated vehicles for driving tests at RTSA as this practice encourages corruption and allows even ‘unbaked’ learners to access driving licenses dubiously.
