MMD convention faction denies links to Mutati

MMD Members who were yesterday denied entry into the party secretariat to present a petition to the party leadership over the holding of the convention have denied being sponsored by Lunte Member of Parliament Felix Mutati and the opposition UPND.

They told QFM News that they are paid-up members of the former ruling party and were not sent by anyone, but that they took it upon themselves as MMD members in line with the party constitution to demand for a convention.

MMD Lusaka Provincial Youth Chairman Erison Malambo, who led the petitioners yesterday, says no amount of force or intimidation will stop them from demanding for a convention.

And MMD Lusaka Province Information and Publicity Secretary, Catherine Mutale, says their demands are genuine which the party leadership should not ignore.

And MMD Lusaka Provincial Secretary Reuben Mambwe has rubbished reports that the members were paid to cause chaos at the secretariat.
