Former National Restoration Party (NAREP) Presidential Advisor David Kapoma has described the revised nomination fees by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) as an injury to democracy.

Mr. Kapoma says even if the ECZ tries to justify why it has increased the nomination fees, they should not have forgotten that there is democracy.

He has called on the commission to consider reverting back to the old fees or adjust upwards reasonably.

Mr. Kapoma says democracy dictates that anyone who has presidential ambitions has the right to content the seat but that with the high nomination fees, only a few will manage.
