The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has expressed concern over reports that a number of civil servants, especially in the police service, teachers, health workers and others are being victimized over their alleged links to the UPND.

UPND Lubwa Ward Counselor Chisankama Mudenda says Most of them are being transferred and even dismissed from their jobs which he says is really unfortunate.

Mr. Mudenda notes that at a time of massive job losses in many sectors, it is really inhuman to keep dismissing professionals from their jobs or victimize them purely on alleged links to the party.

He says when the UPND gets into power, they will restore all those being dismissed citing that it is unfair that in a democratic nation, people are not allowed to support the party of their choice.

Mr. Mudenda says the UPND will run a professional civil service that will be well remunerated and no one will be victimized over trivial issues such as their freedoms to freely associate themselves with organizations of their choices.

He further states that in a democracy, they must accept that people will always want to associate themselves with what they believe in and they must not be harassed as long as they are doing their work diligently and professionally.
