President Edgar Lungu says the ruling Patriotic Front has a winning formula for the 2016 general election.

He says the economic challenges facing the country will not stop the ruling party from winning the 2016 election.

President Lungu is confident that the ruling party will win the elections with a bigger majority.

Speaking during a press conference yesterday, Mr. Lungu says he is confident of the ruling party’s convincing victory in next year’s elections in order to continue giving the Zambians that which the ruling party promised them.

And President Lungu says heeding advice given to political parties by Police is the starting pointing to avoiding certain ugly violent situations.

He says there need for political parties to be sincere and full of goodwill in order not to precipitate violence.

Meanwhile President Lungu has announced three major development programmes government will undertake on the Copperbelt over a period of three years.

The Head of State has named the three projects as construction of a modern International Airport in Ndola at a cost of US$397 million, construction of a water reticulation system for Ndola, Luanshya and Masaiti district at a cost of US$400 million, and construction of 400 kilometers of township toad under the C-400 project at a total cost of US$492 million.

President Lungu says the airport project is expected to create about 3, 000 jobs and will have among other facilities hotels and shopping malls.

President Lungu says this is a complete Greenfield project to be constructed in Chichele Forest area, surrounded by four towns namely Ndola, Kitwe, Mufulira and Luanshya.

President Lungu has since directed the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Supply to ensure that the construction of the Ndola International Airport and construction and rehabilitation of 400km of township roads on the Copperbelt commence in the first quarter of 2016 without fail.
