It is Lungu’s responsibility to serve jobs- Mulongoti

Peoples Party President Mike Mulongoti says President Edgar Lungu has the responsibility to ensure jobs in the mining sector are secured.

Mr. Mulongoti says it is sad that President Lungu failed to reach agreement with mine owners on saving jobs during his four days visit to the Copperbelt.

He fears that other mining companies will follow suit and cut jobs following President Lungu’s remarks that Zambia has reached a point where Zambians have to be honest and accept that jobs will be lost following the thousand job cuts by Mopani.

Mr. Mulongoti has since called for immediate, resolute and effective measures to ensure that the remaining jobs in the mining industry are secured.
