The Islamic Supreme Council of Zambia has advised political parties in the country to put their houses in order ahead of the 2016 general election.

Council President Suzyo Zimba says the pockets of political violence being reported in certain parts of the country are worrying.

Mr. Zimba states that this is considering that if allowed to continue, such violent incidents could spillover to the 2016 elections.

He says it therefore important that political players address the current wave of political violence in the country.

Mr. Zimba tells QFM News that as a Christian, Zambia should be seen to be promoting peace and unity.

Mr. Zimba says political leaders should control their cadres now ahead of the crucial elections next year.
