The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has expressed happiness that young people have continued to exhibit commitment towards ending political violence in the country.

YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza says for the last two days, the organization with the help of the British Government, brought together youths from different political parties to see how best they can participate in next year’s elections without engaging in violence.

Mr. Mwanza has explained to QFM News via telephone that political leaders are encouraged to groom the young people and make them better leaders of tomorrow instead of using them as tools of violence.

He says political leaders should support youths to take part in decision making by adopting them and be part of next year’s tripartite elections.

Mr. Mwanza states that the kind of response coming from political party youths is encouraging and is confident that issues of violence will be avoided during the elections.

Meanwhile, the organization has made a submission to the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, Human Rights, Gender Matters and Child Affairs on the Constitution Amendment Bill No. 17, 2015 as presented to Parliament by the Minister of Justice Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula on 15th October 2015.
