Contractors happy that more women are joining industry

The National Small Scale Contractors Association is happy that more women are joining the construction industry.

Association President Mutale Mpepo says the construction industry now has about 20 to 30% women.

He notes that women should not fear that construction jobs are only for men citing that they can also do it the same way the men are doing it.

Mr. Mpepo points out that time for white collar jobs is long gone and what is remaining are blue collar jobs and thus women and young people should join the industry.

He adds that so far, the women in the construction industry have shown seriousness and demonstrated that they too can perform as much as the men can do in the industry.

He has further encouraged more and more women to join the construction industry.
