UN Drugs & Crimes Rep jets in for a serie of high level meetings

United Nations office for Drugs and Crimes Southern African region Representative Zhuldyz Akisha is in the country for a number of high level meetings aimed at addressing criminal justice reforms, prisons system, human trafficking, and corruption among other issues.

Speaking to Journalists upon arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport this morning, Ms. Akisha says Zambia is of key importance to her office which is why she found it fit to visit the country and dialogue on how best issues surrounding the prisons system and the judiciary can be addressed.

She says her office has had a good working cooperation with Zambia under different projects to help address the challenges that the prisons service and the judiciary are faced with some of which have contributed to delayed justice among other injustices.

Ms. Akisha further states that she is hopeful that her visit will achieve the intended results and will foster her office’s cooperation with the national authorities stressing that this is the beginning of more visits in future.
