HH encourages Zambians to take Independence Day seriously

Opposition UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has encouraged Zambians to take Independence Day celebrations with the seriousness they deserve.

Mr. Hichilema is of the view that freedom fighters that fought for Zambia’s Independence must also be honored by ensuring that Zambia attains economic independence.

He says the UPND in this case feels duty bound to help the Country attain this economic independence and that his call is therefore that all Zambians to vote for UPND in 2016.

Mr. Hichilema, who celebrated Independence Day at Kumbaya Community School in Chaisa area of Mandevu constituency which houses over 400 orphans and less privileged children, says Zambia must strive to achieve economic independence.

He was in the company of his vice president for political affairs Canisius Banda.

And Mr. Hichilema has explained that he chose to celebrate Independence Day with orphans so as to appreciate and sympathize with them in their hardships.

He donated among other assorted items, bags of mealie meal, bags of rice, containers of cooking, and K12, 000 worth cheque to the orphanage.

This is besides pledging to be paying school fees for more than 100 orphans at the school.

This is according to statement released to Qfm News by the UPND National Campaign Centre.
