COBUSU asks govt to resolve impasse at CBU

The Copperbelt University Students Union (COBUSU) has called on government to immediately resolve the impasse at the institution to avoid agitating students.

COBUSU President Humphrey Mwenya has complained to QFM News via telephone that it is irritating that the same problems have remained unresolved at the second highest learning institution.

Mr. Mwenya says the students are blaming government for what is currently happening at the institution where lecturers are demanding the removal of the Professor Naison Ngoma led management before they can return to work.

He says government is failing to understand the damage the prevailing situation is causing to the students.

He says to avoid further upsetting the already upset students; government through the Minister of Higher Education must ensure that they address the issue at hand once and for all.

Mr. Mwenya has also called on students to remain calm during this trying moment and give government and the lecturers’ union time to resolve the matter.

And Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) President Andrew Nthewewe says it is very clear that Higher Education Minister Dr. Michael Kaingu has lamentably failed to address all challenges facing the high education sector in the country.

Mr. Nthewewe says President Lungu will do well to save the sector from collapsing by relieving Dr. Kaingu off his duties.
