Church mother bodies have praised Republican President Edgar Lungu for declaring October 18th as a National day of prayer and fasting.

Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Executive Director Pukuta Mwanza says prayers to be held on the 18th of October every year will help to heal the country.

Reverend Mwanza tells QFM News that God is always pleased when his people come together to worship him.

And Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) Board Chairman Bishop David Masupa says President Lungu has practically made it possible for the nation to seek the face of God as one people.

Bishop Masupa says the church will forever more be grateful to President Lungu for dedicating one day in a year for prayers.

And Christ the Redeemers Friends International (CRFI) Chairman Goodson Kamanga says the declaration by President Lungu has fulfilled the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation as one day in a year will be dedicated for prayers.
