The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) says the electoral commission of Zambia (ECZ) must up its security systems in all registration centers across the country following the break in by thieves at St. Agness Registration Centre in Lusaka’s Kabulonga area of Lusaka Central Constituency on 14 Oct, 2015.

FODEP Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi says the stealing of a laptop, Genset & other registration materials is a wake up call for ECZ to strength security around registration centre.

Mr. Chipenzi says with load shedding on its toll, safeguarding the registration centres is key for the smooth proceeding of registration process for a credible electoral process.

He further states that it is their hope that ECZ has a back up system to avoid loss of key registration information stressing that a mechanism should be put in place to have a central data storage facilities for ease of retrieve of information in an event of a break in like the incident at St. Agness Registration centre.
