SDGs are attainable- Kasese Bota

Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr Mwaba Kasese Bota says the Sustainable Development Goals which come into effect in January 2016 are very much attainable.

Speaking in a live QFM special interview from New York this afternoon, Dr Kasese-Bota says while the challenge with the Millennium Development Goals was the focus on numbers and the goals were not able to interface, the SDGs have been formulated in a manner that they speak to each other.

Dr Kasese-Bota cites the 17th SDG which talks about means of implementation as one goal which is speaking to the all the sixteen goals.

She says the SDGs are therefore very achievable especially that the goals will be implemented within the principles of leaving no one behind.

Dr Kasese-Bota adds that there is a collective agreement in the 2030 agenda where those who have will help those countries that do not have with financial assistance not necessarily handouts.

She states that in the same sense, it has also been agreed that the need for technology transfer is profound.
